Π Υ Ρ ί Σ Π Ο Ρ Ο Σ ΖΩΣΑ ΦΙΛΟΣΟΦΙΑ: ΑΡΧΑΙΟ ΑΡΩΜΑ ΑΠΟ ΤΗΝ ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΓΗ ΤΗΣ ΙΩΝΙΑΣ

Από τον Γεράσιμο Μαυρογιάννη, λάβαμε σήμερα μια άμεση, ζεστή ανταπόκριση από την επίσκεψή του στην Αρχαία Έφεσο, που βρίσκεται απέναντι από την Σάμο, κοντά στο σημερινό λιμάνι Κουσάντασι. Το γράμμα του συνοδεύεται από αρκετές φωτογραφίες του Αρχαιολογικού Χώρου της Εφέσου, ορισμένες από τις οποίες δημοσιεύουμε στην παρούσα ανάρτηση.

After so many visits to Kusadasi yesterday I found the chance to visit the ancient Hellenic city of Efessos. The weather was bad.It was heavily raining but it was ok to me. The only bad thing was listening the Turkish guide never mentioning this was an Hellenic/Greek city in the past. He was only using the term “Ionian” which actually is the name of one of the many Hellenic races of the ancient world. As we say “Athenians”..”Spartans”..”Macedonians”…”Mycenaean”…etc… Whatever… While we were walking trhough the ancient streets of Efessos there were every titles in Hellenic so I was whispering next to the guide while I was reading what was written “I wonder where this Ionian language is... I only see Hellenic language around here...”Later on I while I was reading another one, written “Alexandros” (Alexander the great) a Turkish (probably worker there) came next to me having an ironic smile and said “Yes ! Alexandros! I know him he’s my friend!” (of course he understood where I was coming from...). Then I replied at once “REALLY ? YOU KNOW HIM ?” I was so close to say to him “Maybe he’s not your friend. Maybe he’s your father. Ask your mom”... But then I was like “F**k him” and I stopped. On the way back to the ship the guide started saying about Turkey today etc... it was a good chance for me to play my mp3 player and so I put my headphones to my ears. In between the delays of some songs I heard him saying something about Aegean sea and “our neighbours...” I didn’t want to pay more attention but later I heard him saying “we are a peacefull country.We want peace..” !!! ...maybe his next words should be like “..that’s why we’re bombing Kurdistan and we’re ready to attack to Iraq… that’s why yesterday half population was on the streets asking from the government to start a war..” So I found a very good chance to tune the volume to the maximum !
